Our Story

Rooted in the sands of this land for centuries, nurtured with skill by my Bedouin caretakers.

With care and respect, they cultivated me, creating oases of life in challenging terrains. My beauty is found not only in my form but in my generosity: I offer abundant fruits that nourish entire communities.

I stand tall and proud, with feathery fronds that reach out like open arms, providing both shelter and materials to build their homes.

I am the Palm Tree. My people lived in harmony with the land, understanding its rhythms, and in return the land rewarded them.

Let me tell you a story that is dear to my heart; for centuries my people roamed the desert, mountains and coast, while tenderly caring for animals that played a vital role in their survival.

The falaj systems that nourished me ensured their communities thrived. With this resourcefulness, they transformed their environment into a place of sustenance.

Artisans contributed to a rich cultural heritage, producing goods from the resources at hand.

Communities also used herbs and natural remedies to heal, reflecting their deep connection to the natural world around them.

Coastal communities navigated the sea, bringing back bounties of pearls and fish, paving the way to global trade routes.

The land became their livelihood and their connection to the wider world, as the environment became integral to the economy and culture.

As trade routes expanded, these once isolated tribes were drawn closer together.

The exchange of goods and ideas opened their doors to the world, setting the stage for the transformation of the small communities into a united nation.

In 1971, the young leader Sheikh Zayed and the fellow Founding Fathers united the seven Emirates, joining hands to build a new nation.

A nation built on cooperation and shared vision, they made a commitment to caring for its people and the land.

As the UAE evolved, so did its relationship with nature, adopting practices that balanced development with environmental stewardship.

Through sustainable practices, he ensured that the UAE’s development was in harmony with nature, promoting agriculture and protecting wildlife.

While spearheading large-scale infrastructure development, the leaders prioritised education, healthcare, and housing.

Their leadership led to rapid development, with schools, hospitals, and homes being built to improve the quality of life for all citizens.

The UAE became a key player on the global stage, actively participating and leading regional and international sustainability events.

Through high-profile events like COP28 and various climate summits, the nation actively champions innovative solutions to promote sustainable development worldwide.

Today, we carry forward the legacy, united in our values of respect, sustainability, and collective action to guide future generations towards a brighter future.
